Ed Campbell

Ed completed a PhD in education, following on a master’s in education (with distinction). Both degrees were obtained through the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Over the past 13 years, he has done work in academic literacies, professional education, curriculum and online learning design, as well as the integration of the digital in knowledge institutions.

Some of the other most recent existing and prospective projects include:

  1. Co-organising the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF) 2023 conference, which was held in March 2023 in Paris, France
  2. Redesigning, building and co-facilitating an online academic literacies course for young Sub-Saharan African academics practicing in the fields of transport studies and the broader environmental, civil engineering and urban planning fields, funded by the VREF and administered by Senghor (2022 & 2023)
  3. Convening a cross-sectoral partnership project for the induction of European knowledge professionals into digital literacy practices, in order to target the dissemination of knowledge to community members in the Global South, through facilitated online courses
  4. Creating an open access resource repository pertaining to urban sustainability, which includes resources on urban sustainability education
  5. Setting up a research group within the urban sustainability field, particularly focusing on the broad topic of “cities, practices and technologies”
  6. Organising a workshop/retreat for researchers in the broader urban sustainability field
